The Castle tour

I will pick you up at a prearranged location (your hotel, any place in the City or outside) and we will spend the day driving through Luxembourg on a castle hopping tour.

The beginning of this tour will take us to Vianden, home to the biggest castle outside of Luxembourg City and a major landmark of the country. Every year in early october, the Nuts Festival has the whole town locked for traffic while stands sell delicious typical national dishes. Streets get really crowded ! An important medieval festival happens every august and draws many visitors too.
We will spend a little time learning about history before going up the hill to the castle for a visit. Alternatively, if time permits, you will have the option to spend time on your own enjoying the unique flair of the town.

As we may spend up to two hours here, we will have lunch in the town as well.  There are many fine eateries in the beautiful cobbled streets or by the river catering to your needs.

In the early afternoon, we will get to Clervaux, driving along the river Our for a while and enjoying some nice german scenry. The Clervaux castle, itself worth a look, hosts the permanent photo exhibition by Edward Steichen Family of Man. Edwards Steichen was an american photographer born in Luxembourg and the country is proud to feature one of his most important work.
The village itself is beatiful and is one of the secret gems of the country. Here again, free time will be an option to explore the town on your own.

By mid afternoon it will then be time to make our way back to the City. One last stop in Larochette, where the castle's ruins stand among beautiful nature. Depending on opening seasons, this will be a great opportunity to either visit a smaller castle, or have a quick walk around it. The town itself lies at the crossroads of various tourist spots and is a favorite for good weather outside sitting areas. Expect a lot of bikers on summer week ends !
We will be back in Luxembourg by early evening - expect 6pm earliest. This is a quiet tour that should not be rushed. There will be castles, nature and a photo exhibition, and we will see an uncommon side of Luxembourg.

Entrance fees to museums and sights are included but openings are subject to seasonal changes. Light food and drinks are included too.
Departure at no later than 9:00 am. Duration of tour up to 10 hours. Time will be made for lunch but is not included in the price.
